SLC is offering two brand new programs, with intakes beginning this January. The new Food Safety and Security Techniques program is a one-year Ontario College Certificate offered on the Kingston campus. The new Computer Programming program is a two-year Ontario College Diploma offered on the Cornwall campus.
Conversations that Promote Intercultural Understanding and Learning
English Conversation Club started as a place for many international students to practice their speaking skills and has evolved into a place for promoting intercultural understanding and learning. Jennifer Burns, the lead facilitator, invites all students, staff, and community members to join the club, and creates a safe and open environment for people to ask questions, share their experiences and support each other in their learning journey at SLC.
Environmental Technician Students Help with City Tree Planting
Twenty-one Environmental Technician students helped plant 300 trees at Chevrier Park in Cornwall on Tuesday September 28th. This opportunity was made possible by the Raisin Region Conservation Authority, who supplied the trees, equipment, and guidance, as well as the City of Cornwall, who provided an accessible location for the event.

Academic Accommodations for Religious, Indigenous and Spiritual Observances Policy
As part of the value of Belonging, SLC supports an inclusive teaching and learning environment that respects and values the diversity of our students. This fall, Policy AC836: Academic Accommodations for Religious, Indigenous and Spiritual Observances Policy was introduced. Under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), SLC faculty and employees are required to accommodate students’ rights to practice their individual faith observances.
