National Indigenous History Month
This issue of Our College News is dedicated to National Indigenous History Month, as we aim to learn more about the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Indigenous Student Advisors Jessie Pengelly and Shirley Chaisson provide thought-provoking questions, and SLC employees share their insight and perspective on Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being and how we can each take reconciliACTION, meaningful steps to move reconciliation forward, not just during Indigenous History Month, but throughout the year.
New partnership streamlines and improves application process for international students
SLC is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC) and their Education Partner Program (EPP). This new pathway for submitting applications to SLC also offers new resources and supports for our students.
SLC Researcher Interviewed about Rare Vaccine Side Effects
Dr. Maha Othman, a professor in SLC’s School of Baccalaureate Nursing, was recently interviewed by Science Norway for an article on COVID-19 vaccines. Drawing on her expertise and extensive research on bleeding disorders and blood clotting, Dr. Othman offered valuable insight into some of the mechanisms that may underlie rare side effects reportedly associated with the Astra Zeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
Unveiling the A. Britton Smith Centre for Behavioural Studies
In recognition of the incredible philanthropic support the Britton Smith Foundation provided to SLC through the Uncommon Campaign, SLC proudly unveiled the new naming of the A. Britton Smith Centre for Behavioural Studies on May 13. This was shared with Mr. Smith on his 101st birthday with a video greeting and sign unveiling by Glenn Vollebregt.
